Disclaimer

This site is not to be construed as legal or any other advice. It is simply an attempt to quantify the potential impact on individual owners of one to three family properties in the five boroughs of New York City, should the recommendations of NYC’s Property Tax Reform Commission be adopted by New York City (as Comptroller Brad Lander has recently been mentioning), and approved by the State Legislature.

Please note that in some cases, the Reform Commission proposed alternate means of calculating exemptions, each of which would yield somewhat different results. For example, on page 43 of the Report, the text presents two options for a “Partial Homestead Exemption.” This site uses the first. And so on.

In the event that NYC’s Department of Finance or any other knowledgeable person or entity determines that errors have been made in the computations on this site, they are encouraged to contact the administrator to point out said errors, and request that appropriate corrections be made. Alternately, they may contact the office of NYC Comptroller Brad Lander, at Contact Our Office : Office of the New York City Comptroller Brad Lander (nyc.gov) to ask what their property taxes on a specific one to three family property will be in the event that the proposed property tax reform is implemented.
